Testing as a Tool for Group Formation and Training Plan Development
Testing athletes in specific disciplines is an effective tool for group formation, identifying development directions, and drafting training plans. For pole vaulters, the tests can include:
- Sprints
- Shuttle runs
- Standing long jump
- Triple jump from a standing position (on two legs)
- Standing high jump
- Pull-ups
- Hanging position exercises, such as the "short swing" (or "Bubka's exercise"), performed a certain number of times within a set timeframe
For assessing strength levels, various barbell exercises can be utilized:
- Squats
- Half-squats
- Snatch
- Clean
- Bench press
These exercises can be adapted or modified based on the candidate's level of preparation, age, and testing conditions. Testing helps not only objectively evaluate the current capabilities of athletes but also outline paths for their further development.
